Test evaluation

Teachers organize fitness testing by creating templates. Templates consist of test items, such as One-Mile Run or Shoulder Stretch. Each test item measures one of the following four fitness areas:

  1. Aerobic capacity:
    • One-Mile Run,
    • PACER (Progressive Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run), and
    • Walk Test.
  2. Flexibility:

    • Back-Saver Sit and Reach and
    • Shoulder Stretch.

  3. Body composition:
    • BMI (Body Mass Index),
    • Bioelectrical Impedance Analyzer, and
    • Skinfold Measurement.
  4. Muscular strength and endurance:
    • Curl-Up (abdominal strength and flexibility),
    • Trunk Lift (trunk extensor strength and flexibility),
    • Push-Up (upper body strength and endurance),
    • Modified Pull-Up (upper body strength and endurance), and
    • Flexed Arm Hang (upper body strength and endurance).

In addition to the optional test items that you can choose, Height & Weight is included in each template by default. This is because students' height and weight influence the evaluation of their performance.

Each test item is evaluated according to one of the following evaluation scales:

  1. Very Lean - Meets Expectations - Needs Improvement (Some Risk) - Needs Improvement (High Risk):

    • BMI (Body Mass Index),
    • Bioelectric Impedance Analyzer, and
    • Skinfold Measurement.

  2. Meets Expectations - Needs Improvement (Some Risk) - Needs Improvement (High Risk):
    • One-Mile Run,
    • PACER (Progressive Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run), and
    • Walk Test.
  3. Meets expectations - Needs improvement:
    • Curl-Up,
    • Trunk Lift,
    • Push-Up,
    • Modified Pull-Up,
    • Flexed Arm Hang,
    • Back-Saver Sit and Reach, and
    • Shoulder Stretch.
